Baldr is one of Jón Leifs' largest and most ambitious scores. It stands at the centre of the composer's career. The work is subtitled "A Choreographic drama without Words", somewhat inaccurately, since it includes sung texts from the Prose and Poetic Eddas, which also provide the sources for the plot.
