Kai Grinde Myrann

Norwegian conductor Kai Grinde Myrann holds a BA in composition from the Norwegian Academy of Music and Berlin’s Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler and an MA (2013) in conducting from the Norwegian Academy of Music. After his Master’s Degree he was immediately appointed as assistant conductor with both the Stavanger Symphony and Bergen Philharmonic Orchestras. In 2015 he received a scholarship in conducting at Tromsø’s Arctic University. Myrann co-founded the much sought-after nine-strong new music ensemble Aksiom in 2010, of which he is artistic director. He is also conductor of Ensemble Temporum, an ensemble founded in 2016 specializing in classic contemporary masterpieces. His commitment to contemporary music saw him, from 2011 to 2014, as chairman of the Norwegian section of Ung Nordisk Musikk (UNM), an organization devoted to young Nordic composers. As such, Myrann was in charge of the 2013 UNM festival, which was held in Oslo and featured 35 composers.
