Forty-six times Grammy-nominated conductor and composer José Serebrier is one of the most recorded classical artists today. Born in Uruguay of Russian and Polish parents, he became associate conductor of the American Symphony Orchestra at the age of 21, working with Leopold Stokowski who hailed him as ‘the greatest master of orchestral balance’. Since then, José Serebrier has conducted most major orchestras in North America, Europe, Australia and Latin America and undertaken numerous international tours with leading orchestras. Serebrier has composed more than 100 published works, several of which were premièred by Stokowski. The book José Serebrier, A Portrait of the Maestro, was published by Rowman & Littlefield in July 2021. His music has also been recorded by Stokowski and Sir John Eliot Gardiner among others. His recording Serebrier – Composer & Conductor [BIS-2423] was nominated for a 2021 Grammy Award, and in 2004 his BIS recording of the Bizet-Serebrier Carmen Symphony won a Latin Grammy for ‘best classical album’.
