Malena Ernman has become one of the most sought after European singers of her generation. She has appeared in a wide variety of rôles at major venues such as the Deutsche Staatsoper, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Théâtre de la Monnaie and Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
On the current disc My Love she appears in widely different roles - from Mozart, Rossini and Schubert to Michel Legrand and Duke Ellington, encompassing some very different musical moods and styles on the way. All the while she is assisted by guitarist Mats Bergström who is also a musician of more than ordinarily wide musical interests. (On his solo album SubString Bridge (BIS-NL-CD-5019) he presents modern classics by Steve Reich and Toru Takemitsu along side new music for guitar and computer, a couple of remixes and a multimedia track.) He is also responsible for arranging all of the pieces for guitar accompaniment. This is a meltingly beautiful disc - but highly spiced!
