The Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera (TSO) currently numbers 85 players. In addition to its regular orchestral concerts, its wide-ranging activities include opera and music theatre productions, projects aimed at children and youth, contemporary music and chamber music. The orchestra performs mainly in Trondheim and the central parts of Norway, but also makes national and international tours. Its history goes back to 1909, but it was with the foundation of Trondheim Chamber Orchestra in 1947 that the modern, professional orchestra began to take form.
