After studying the piano for many years Masako Art (harp, direction) began playing the harp and took lessons from Bill Taylor in Scotland, where she acquired her passion for Scottish music. She studied historical harps at the Schola Cantorum in Basel and with Mara Galassi in Milan and has performed throughout Europe in many ensembles including the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Freiburger Barockorchester, La Cetra, I Barocchisti, L’Arpeggiata, L’arpa festante and La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roi, and has participated in recordings, for instance with Philippe Jaroussky. She took part in the world première of the contemporary opera Das geopferte Leben by Hector Parra at Münchner Biennale.
