Cecilia Bernardini



Dutch-Italian Cecilia Bernardini is considered to be one of the most versatile violinists of her generation, specializing in historically informed practice on period instruments. She has performed in many of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Musikverein Vienna and Konzerthaus Berlin, as a soloist or as a chamber musician or artistic director. She has led/directed modern and period instrument ensembles including Ensemble Pygmalion, Ensemble Zefiro, Arcangelo, Vox Luminis, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Barokkanerne, The King’s Consort, Holland Baroque Society, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg. In 2012 Cecilia Bernardini was appointed leader of the Scotland-based Dunedin Consort, directed by John Butt. She features regularly as a soloist and appears on many of their critically acclaimed recordings. A keen chamber musician, she is a member of the Serafino String Trio and forms a duo with fortepianist Keiko Shichijo. She has performed at numerous festivals over the world, including the Edinburgh Festival, Salzburger Festspiele, Bath Festival, Utrecht Early Music Festival, Great Mountains Festival in Korea, Festival de Sablé, Bruges Early Music Festival, Malta Early Music Festival and Thüringer Bachwochen. Cecilia Bernardini plays on a 1743 Camillo Camilli violin kindly loaned by the Jumpstart Foundation.
