Claude Delangle has been the driving force behind numerous premières. At the request of Pierre Boulez he appeared as a soloist with and member of the Ensemble Intercontemporain from 1986 until 2000. Luciano Berio wrote the concerto Chemin VII – Récit sur Sequenza IXb for him, and Karlheinz Stockhausen dedicated Linker Augentanz to him. Founder of the Université Européenne du Saxophone in Gap in south-eastern France, he has given numerous public courses and remains is in constant contact with young composers from the IRCAM composition course and Paris Conservatoire, where he has taught nearly 150 pupils. Premièring and communicating music motivate all of his work. He has been greatly inspired by the work of conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Mikko Franck, Peter Eötvös, Myung-Whun Chung and Leonard Slatkin, and during his career as a soloist has worked with many prestigious orchestras. Recording (as an exclusive BIS artist) has been at the heart of his work since 1992, and testifies to an exceptional musical productivity. He advises the firm Henri-Selmer-Paris in the development of prototype instruments, and supervises a series of publications for Éditions Lemoine Paris. Claude Delangle is a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
