Since making his début at the age of sixteen, Love Derwinger has given recitals throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan, the Middle East and South America. He has performed with orchestras such as the Residentie Orchestra Den Haag, NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hannover and Philharmonia Orchestra, as well as the major Scandinavian orchestras, collaborating with conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung, Jun’ichi Hirokami, Paavo Järvi, Vassily Sinaisky and Leif Segerstam. Known for his versatility, Love Derwinger also devotes much attention to chamber music, contemporary music and the Lieder repertoire, and was for several years the regular pianist of the soprano Barbara Hendricks. His rich and varied discography includes numerous recordings for BIS, ranging from performances of piano concertos by Grieg, Stenhammar and Reger to chamber music and songs by Sibelius, Grieg and Poulenc. Derwinger is also active as a writer and Godnatt (‘Goodnight’, 2010), his first book, with autobiographical sketches, received critical acclaim. His latest book, Föredraget (‘The Lecture’, 2015), is ‘an anachronistic interview with Bach’ and concerns itself with the nature and conditions of the creative process.
