Paolo Giacometti



Paolo Giacometti performs worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician, on period as well as modern instruments. Born in Milan, Italy, he has been living in the Netherlands from his early childhood. He studied with Jan Wijn at the Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam, where he graduated with the highest distinction. Another significant influence on his musical education was György Sebők. Paolo Giacometti has won prizes at both national and international competitions. He has played with renowned orchestras under distinguished conductors such as Frans Brüggen, Kenneth Montgomery, Laurent Petitgirard and Jaap van Zweden. Apart from his activities as a soloist, a love for chamber music has resulted in successful collaborations with leading musicians such as Pieter Wispelwey, Janine Jansen and Viktoria Mullova. He is a regular guest at chamber music festivals in Europe and North America, and has performed in prestigious venues including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires), Wigmore Hall, Théâtre du Châtelet and Seoul Arts Centre. Giacometti’s wide-ranging discography includes solo recitals, concertos and chamber music and has received critical acclaim internationally. In 2019 he was the recipient of the German Brahms Prize, together with Pieter Wispelwey. A dedicated teacher, Paolo Giacometti is also a professor at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.
