James Graham

James Graham (voice), from Lochinver in the far north-west of Scotland, grew up spending hours with his great-aunt, a native Gaelic speaker, learning songs and listening to her fascinating stories. He studied the bagpipes and Gaelic song under Kenna Campbell at Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, winning the BBC Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award in 2004 and the gold medal at the Royal National Mòd in 2007. As one of Scotland’s best known Gaelic singers, he appeared in TV/radio series such as Transatlantic Sessions 4 and at festivals and concerts across the world. He has released two acclaimed solo discs and has sung on many other albums. He is a member of Cruinn, a BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards-nominated Gaelic vocal quartet.
