Débora Halász



Praised by critics as ‘a superb virtuoso with a prodigious technique’, Débora Halász is among the leading South American pianists of her generation. Winner of the major competitions in her native Brazil, she made her début with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra at the age of fifteen. She studied at the Magdalena Tagliaferro Academy in São Paulo, and later under Beatriz Balzi and Myrian Dauelsberg. At the same time she graduated in law from São Paulo University. In 1989 she moved to Germany, since when she has been invited to many European, South and North American music festivals and concert series. Her many recordings have been enthusiastically acclaimed by the international press. With her husband Franz Halász she established a guitar and piano duo in 1993, winning further critical acclaim. Débora Halász teaches at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Munich.
