His refreshing approach to performance has made him a firm favourite with composers such as Thomas Adès, Harrison Birtwistle, Elliott Carter, James Clarke, Francisco Coll, Hugues Dufourt, Pascal Dusapin, Rolf Riehm, Wolfgang Rihm and Rebecca Saunders. Hodges has appeared with orchestras including the Berliner Philharmoniker, BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, collaborating with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, George Benjamin, Sylvain Cambreling, David Robertson, Pascal Rophé and Leonard Slatkin. As a recitalist, Nicolas Hodges has performed at venues such as the Carnegie and Wigmore Halls and has appeared at many festivals including Lucerne, Berlin, Melbourne and the BBC Proms in London.
