The violinist Janine Jansen works regularly with the world’s most eminent orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Berliner Philharmoniker and the New York Philharmonic, collaborating with distinguished conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, Mariss Jansons, Sir Antonio Pappano and Bernard Haitink. A devoted chamber musician, she established and curates the annual Utrecht International Chamber Music Festival. Janine Jansen records exclusively for Decca (Universal Music), and has amassed a wideranging and highly acclaimed discography. She has won numerous awards, including four Edison Klassiek Awards, the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and most recently the Concertgebouw Prize. Janine Jansen studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek, Philipp Hirshhorn and Boris Belkin. She plays the outstanding ‘Barrere’ violin by Antonio Stradivari (1727), on extended loan from the Elise Mathilde Foundation.
