With a unique place on today’s music scene and following the tradition of great masters such as
Rachmaninov, Busoni and Enescu, Olli Mustonen combines the roles of composer, pianist and conductor
in an equal balance, and often brings them together in one fascinating triple role performance.
Born in Helsinki, Olli Mustonen began his studies of piano and harpsichord at the age of five and of composition at the age of eight. Initially a pupil of Ralf Gothóni, he subsequently studied piano with Eero Heinonen and composition with Einojuhani Rautavaara.
During an illustrious career, Mustonen has brought his extraordinary musical insight to many of world’s leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Concertgebouworkest, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, the main London orchestras as well as several of the leading American orchestras.
