Alexei Ogrintchouk

Alexei Ogrintchouk is one of today’s outstanding oboists and has been performing worldwide since the age of 13. He is a graduate of the Gnessin Specialist School of Music in Moscow and the Paris Conservatoire where he studied under Maurice Bourgue, Jacques Tys and Jean-Louis Capezzali. He is the winner of many international awards, including a first prize at the Geneva International Music Competition and two ‘Victoires de la Musique’ in France. The BBC New Generation, Borletti-Buitoni Trust and ECHO Rising Stars have all awarded him their most coveted prizes.

Since 2005 Alexei Ogrintchouk has been principal oboist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam with Mariss Jansons. Until then he held the same post at the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra with Valery Gergiev – a position which he secured at the age of 20.

He combines his orchestral playing with numerous solo engagements around the world, including concerto performances with conductors such as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Seiji Ozawa, Fabio Luisi, Andris Nelsons, Daniel Harding and Stéphane Denève. Alexei Ogrintchouk is also much in demand as a recitalist and chamber musician and has performed with distinguished artists including Gidon Kremer, Radu Lupu, Thomas Quasthoff, Fabio Biondi, Misha Maisky, Leif Ove Andsnes, Sergio Azzolini and Maxim Rysanov.

Alexei Ogrintchouk is a professor of oboe at the Haute École de Musique de Genève and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He also gives master classes worldwide.
