Clas Pehrsson has enjoyed a wide-ranging career all over the world – principally in Europe but also in Asia, the USA and Australia. He has toured as a soloist and chamber musician, for instance with the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble, and has visited numerous music conservatories and international festivals as a guest teacher. He has also frequently been a member of the jury at major international music competitions, including numerous such events organized by Bavarian Radio in Germany.
As a soloist and/or music director, Clas Pehrsson has made some thirty commercial recordings, mostly for BIS, as well as countless television and radio broadcasts. He has also worked as a violinist, violist, conductor, author and translator, and in the years 1990–92 was artistic director of the Vadstena Academy.
Clas Pehrsson became the principal recorder teacher at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm in 1965 and was appointed professor there in 2000. He has also held numerous other important positions at the Royal College, including special duties with regard to the development of artistic research and training of researchers (2004–09). He retired from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm as a professor emeritus in 2009. Clas Pehrsson was elected to the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 2001.
