Finnish cellist Johannes Rostamo is interested in all forms of musical communication: from early baroque to contemporary music, from jazz to folk music. Principal cellist of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 2008, he also maintains an active career as a soloist and chamber musician, appearing regularly with orchestras in the Nordic countries. In addition, he is the artistic leader of Orfeus Barock Stockholm and a founding member of Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble which collaborates with musicians and artists of all genres. Johannes Rostamo is often invited as guest principal cellist in orchestras such as the Concertgebouworkest, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra and Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Since 2020 he has been an associate professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
