Nicolas Stavy

Nicolas Stavy performs at prestigious international events such as the Roque d’Anthéron Festival, the Klavier-Festival Ruhr and the Festival piano aux Jacobins as well as at the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the 92nd Street Y in New York. He also appears as a soloist with major ensembles in Europe and the United States.

Constantly in search of new discoveries, Stavy plays chamber music together with partners including Cédric Tiberghien, Karine Deshayes and the Quatuor Ébène. In addition, he regularly plays alongside renowned French actors and the writer Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt.

Nicolas Stavy was a pupil of Dominique Merlet for nearly 15 years, and his encounters with György Sebök and Alfred Brendel left a deep impression. Prizes at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Geneva Competition (second prize) and Bachauer Competition in the United States gave him access to the international musical world. His recordings have been hailed by the specialist European press and have earned him distinctions including the prestigious Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik for his disc of Haydn’s Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross (BIS-2429).
