Olivier Thiery received his first double bass lessons from his father Georges Thiery at the age of fifteen. After graduating from the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany, he moved to Amsterdam and a post as permanent member with the Concertgebouworkest. In 2009 he was a prizewinner at the 58th ARD International Music Competition in Munich. In addition to his commitment to Camerata RCO, Olivier Thiery performs in recital and chamber music at festivals across Europe, such as those in West Cork, Schiermonnikoog, Kempten and Wassenaar, alongside partners including Alexei Ogrintchouk, Emmanuel Pahud, Daishin Kashimoto, Anthony Marwood and Lise Berthaud. Since 2014 Olivier Thiery has taught at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
