Grammy-winner Jason Vieaux, ‘among the elite of today’s classical guitarists’ (Gramophone), is the guitarist who goes beyond the classical. His solo album Play won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Solo and he was the first classical musician to be featured on NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk’ series.
Vieaux has earned a reputation for putting his expressiveness and virtuosity at the service of a remarkably wide range of music. His appearances at the Caramoor Festival (as artist-in-residence), Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, San Francisco’s Herbst Theater, Buenos Aires’ Teatro Colón, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, New York’s 92Y, the Ravinia Festival and many others have forged his reputation as a first-rate chamber musician and programmer. Vieaux has performed as soloist with over 100 orchestras and his passion for new music has fostered premières of works by Avner Dorman, Dan Visconti, Vivian Fung, José Luis Merlin and more.
Vieaux continues to bring important repertoire alive in the studio as well, with recordings including Infusion with the accordionist/bandoneonist Julien Labro, Ginastera’s Guitar Sonata (featured on Ginastera: One Hundred) and Together, a duo album with harpist Yolanda Kondonassis.
