Angela Yoffe



Admired for her outstanding musicianship, extraordinary sensitivity and virtuosity, the pianist Angela Yoffe has performed in the concert halls of United States, Europe, Japan and Canada. She was born in Rīga, Latvia into a family of highly respected musicians. Before emigrating to Israel she studied with Faina Bulavko and Ilze Graubin, and later she was a pupil of Victor Derevianko in Tel Aviv. She continued her studies in the USA with Joaquín Achúcarro at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She was a piano assistant in the violin studio of Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in New York, where she studied chamber music with Jonathan Feldman.

Collaboration with her long-standing recital partner violinist Vadim Gluzman has taken Angela Yoffe to numerous international festivals. As a chamber musician and recitalist, she has performed in New York, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco, Berlin, Paris, Geneva, Rome and Tokyo. She has also appeared with the Seattle Symphony, Omaha Symphony, SWR Stuttgart Radio Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and with New York’s Jupiter Symphony under the batons of Andrey Boreyko, Gerard Schwarz, Sebastian Lang-Lessing, Victor Yampolsky and the legendary Jens Nygaard.

In January 2013, with Vadim Gluzman, she performed Lera Auerbach’s 24 Preludes to celebrate John Neumeier’s 40th anniversary at the Hamburg Ballet. The world première recording of these pieces (composed for these artists) was released on BIS Records to rave reviews, as were their other albums: Time… and Again, Ballet for a Lonely Violinist and Fireworks.
